Questions for people NOT subscribed

Hey Team, I am a humble youtube creator looking to improve and I’ve realized that any poll I post in the community tab is going to be biased since these wonderful people have already decided to subscribe to my content.

I very much wish to improve and am looking for the opinions of those who are not subscribed to my channel. I understand that searchability is the absolute number 1 deciding factor and that I should do whatever makes me happiest, however, in my youtube analytics I have only a 12% subscription rate of total views meaning 88% of people watching my content, do not/are not subscribed.

I was curious (since I have Aspergers a form of Autism) if the reason why my content is “unsuccessful” is because I am doing my own thing ie overlay, intro with my face, my face on the thumbnail, background music, etc

I understand that if I ask the question “Should I be like everyone else?” , I will get a resounding NO!
But, real talk, is it because people just want gameplay?

From my personal experience I learned that the best way of doing stuff is doing them the way you want, like and feel right. If you try to not be yourself it is way harder to make videos. I also have Aspergers and I know that the stuff you do is not the reason you consider your content “unsuccessful”. Nothing you do is wrong if you don’t think it is wrong. Your success will come over time. Sometimes after 300 videos, sometimes it takes 2 videos.

I completely agree. I see it as having many different directions of interest and not that I am trying to be something else. The deciding factor would be personal growth. I want to chose the branch that reaches for the Sun.
My condition makes it very frustrating to see content creators that put very little to no effort into their videos and their channels thrive. I watched a channel that had 4 videos with no direction or purpose, no thumbnails, a common png from google as a channel icon, no editing, long pauses, no progression within the episode… this channel went from 200 subs to 150k in 5 days because of RLCraft. After his success hit he actually stopped posting videos and after a week he came back with a “buy my merch video.” He actually put the png on t shirts and sweatshirts and people in his comment section were blowing up about how great a youtuber he was and how they wanted to wear his merch.
I cannot understand this. I have to write it off as an outlier.
Luckily for me, my mindset is “better than yesterday” so I am doing good. I can always find a way to prove to myself that I am making progress. I just want to pick the best path and put 110% of my effort there =)
